The CLEAT Series focuses on work composed for the 16-channel speaker system in our space, allowing audiences to experience different approaches to spatial audio. For the second CLEAT Series edition of October we’re honored to welcome Spanish electronic composer Francisco López to present new work on the system. We’re also lucky to have Irish sound artist / composer Barbara Ellison presenting new work as well! Chicago duo post doom roomance, artists Mykel Boyd and Seah, will open the night with an audio/visual presentation utilizing the 16 channel system. Performances will start at 8pm!

On Friday October 13th, Spanish sound-artist and composer Francisco López returns to L.A. after more than two decades, bringing an intense and immersive audio experience – VirtuAural Electro-Mechanics – to a blindfolded audience in the Theater at 2220 Arts + Archives.

Also, Irish audio-visual artist Barbara Ellison makes her L.A. debut with CyberSongs, a phantasmic, transhuman song cycle for human-like computer voices and computer-like patterns with human voice. And opening the evening is Hive Mind – the seismic, glacial analog devastations of Greh Holger.

Join us for a preeminent two-evening weekend with Francisco López, Barbara Ellison, Olivia Block, Daniel Menche, Michael Gendreau, and Kevin Drumm, alongside a special duo performance by Victoria Shen and Aaron Dilloway, as well as a late night after-party with Pharmakon.

A brand new two hour multimedia work from Barbara Ellison’s world of CyberSongs. Ellison describes the new work as ‘a transhuman song cycle for human-like computer voices and computer-like human voice, silent movies and live band’. Performed by Nathalie Smoor and Ensemble Klang, the work features lighting and staging by Pavla Beranova, and a series of silent movie projections.
